Prime Medicine™ was founded with a goal of transforming the lives of patients with debilitating diseases through the application of our groundbreaking Prime Editing platform and technology. We use Prime Editing, a next-generation gene editing approach that we believe can address the genetic cause of disease and potentially provide patients with long-lasting cures. Prime Editing searches to find the precise place in the genome to edit and replaces the segment of faulty DNA with a correct copy of DNA. We envision a world where this approach can change the course of how disease is treated to provide potentially lifelong benefit to patients and shape the future of gene editing. We believe Prime Editing technology has broad potential – that it could theoretically address about 90% of known disease-causing mutations across many organisms, organs and cell types. Versatile, precise and efficient, Prime Editing is designed to work broadly across most types of gene mutations at the natural genomic location, while minimizing unwanted DNA modifications. This approach uses a process designed to produce a wide variety of precise, predictable and efficient genetic outcomes at the targeted sequence, which we believe will dramatically increase the impact of gene editing for a broad range of therapeutic applications.
