We are the pioneers of commercial space, leading the transformation of low-Earth orbit into a global space marketplace. Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic EPS Integration and Planning Engineer Principal who is fueled by high accountability, execution horsepower, and driven to understand our world, science/technology, and life itself, for the benefit of all on Earth and beyond. POSITION SUMMARY Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy EPS Integration and Planning Engineer to own how the Electrical Power System gets from where it is today to flight hardware on orbit: the Integrated Master Schedule, the critical path, the long lead items, the gate readiness, and the cross-subsystem and supplier coordination that it depends on. The Axiom Space Station power architecture is a regulated 120 V dual bus system: solar array regulation as the first bus forming stage, isolated conversion as the second, high voltage energy storage with charge and discharge regulation, secondary conversion to 120 V and 28 V, and protected load distribution through latching current limiters, all of it distributed across module boundaries and across berthing and docking interfaces. The person in this seat owns the Electrical Power System content of the Integrated Master Schedule and will be the person who knows before anyone else that a date is not going to be held. Technical integration scope grows around that core: interface coordination across subsystems, supplier deliverable management, facility and test readiness, customer and International Space Station Program coordination, and operations integration. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Own the Electrical Power System content of the Integrated Master Schedule in Microsoft Project: activity definition, network logic and dependencies, durations and resource assumptions, baseline and change control, progress status, forecast dates, and gate traceability - Own critical path and near critical path analysis. Identify schedule threats early, quantify the impact, propose the recovery options, and present the consequences of each rather than a single opinion - Track long lead procurement and supplier delivery commitments against need dates and drive the actions that protect them - Own integration risk management: identification, likelihood and consequence assessment, mitigation planning, and tracking to closure, with the schedule consequence of each risk made explicit - Drive gate readiness: define the entry and exit criteria, track the evidence, run the readiness assessments ahead of each internal gate and each major review, and close the gaps before the review finds them - Coordinate cross-subsystem interfaces for the Electrical Power System: interface control document development, review, and deconfliction with command and data handling, thermal, guidance and navigation, structures, and software, including electromagnetic compatibility and grounding coordination - Validate interfaces at integration gates: power budgets, data rates and telemetry content, thermal loads, mass properties, and mechanical accommodation, and drive discrepancies to closure - Maintain requirements flow down and traceability from station and module level requirements to equipment and supplier specifications and run periodic traceability audits - Coordinate supplier deliverables and interfaces: deliverable and action tracking, supplier gate attendance and response coordination, cross supplier interface deconfliction such as energy storage to power conditioning and solar array to array regulation, and integration of supplier data into Axiom analyses including thermal models, power budgets, and failure modes and effects analysis - Coordinate the customer and International Space Station Program interface: technical inquiry responses, review item dispositions, white papers, certification and safety package support including hazard reports, and standards compliance validation against SSP 30237, SSP 50005, SSP 50094, and NASA-STD-3001 - Coordinate facilities and test infrastructure readiness: laboratory space planning for benchtop, integration, and environmental test, test equipment procurement and delivery tracking, facility readiness validation covering power, cooling, data acquisition, and safety, and test schedule deconfliction across teams - Support mission operations and concept of operations integration: operational modes, fault response, crew displays, controls, and procedures, mission timeline alignment against power profiles and deployable sequencing, and ground operations planning from pre-launch checkout through commissioning - Prepare, present, and defend schedule, risk, and integration status at internal gates and at SRR, PDR, CDR, Test Readiness Review, Manufacturing Readiness Review, and Flight Readiness Review, and drive actions and requests for action to closure - Mentor and direct the work of a junior integration and planning engineer - Communicate progress, status, risk, and options to stakeholders and leadership - Perform additional job duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Education & Experience· - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred - Level 5: 12 or more years’ experience, including at least one program carried through a major integration and test campaign. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Demonstrated ownership of an Integrated Master Schedule or a significant subsystem schedule in Microsoft Project: activity logic, critical path analysis, baseline and change management, resource and long lead tracking, and status reporting that leadership used to make decisions - Demonstrated ability to build a schedule from technical content rather than from a list of dates, meaning the ability to sit with subsystem leads and suppliers, extract what the work requires, and turn it into a defensible network - A genuine affinity for planning work. The successful candidate treats a well-constructed schedule as an engineering product with its own integrity, not as reporting overhead - Demonstrated interface ownership: authoring, reviewing, and deconflicting interface control documents across multiple subsystems and multiple organizations - Technical literacy in electrical power systems sufficient to hold an engineering conversation without a translator: power and energy budgets, distribution and protection concepts, grounding and isolation, and the meaning of the numbers in a power interface - Experience coordinating suppliers and subcontractors through design reviews, deliverable schedules, and action closure - Experience interfacing with a government or institutional customer, including formal inquiry response, review item disposition, and certification or safety documentation - Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to defend a technical position in front of customers, partners, and safety authorities - Track record of delivering outcomes in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, and of delivering high quality results under tight deadlines - Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges - Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high quality results Preferred Qualifications - Human spaceflight experience, and familiarity with International Space Station interfaces, safety review process, and visiting vehicle practice - Experience with Primavera P6, earned value management, or formal schedule risk analysis - Experience in program planning and control organization on a hardware development program - Experience planning and standing up laboratory, integration, and environmental test infrastructure - Experience with requirements management tools such as Jama or DOORS, including traceability and change control - Experience developing concept of operations products, crew procedures, or flight operations products - Project Management Professional certification, PMI Scheduling Professional certification, INCOSE certification, or equivalent demonstrated practice - Direct experience with spacecraft electrical power hardware, test, or operations Core Skills - Passion for space and the mission - Entrepreneurial, growth mindset - High EQ and ability to collaborate within teams and cross-functionally - Tech-solutioning in using systems and tools to move smarter and faster Core Competencies: Embody our core values of leadership, innovation, and teamwork.
