About the role

OVERVIEW Axiom Space is a human space exploration company, building era-defining space infrastructure and delivering technology-driven solutions that will empower civilization to transcend Earth. Beginning with Axiom Station, successor to the International Space Station, the company is pioneering a next-generation orbital settlement that will foster groundbreaking innovation and research in microgravity and drive the global space economy of tomorrow. Today, guided by the vision of leading humanity's expansion off planet, Axiom Space is the principal provider of commercial human spaceflight services and developer of advanced spacesuits for the Moon and beyond. For more information about Axiom Space, visit www.axiomspace.com. Axiom Space fosters a work environment inclusive of all perspectives. We are the pioneers of commercial space, leading the transformation of low-Earth orbit into a global space marketplace. Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic EPS Integration and Planning Engineer Senior who is fueled by high accountability, execution horsepower, and driven to understand our world, science/technology, and life itself, for the benefit of all on Earth and beyond. POSITION SUMMARY Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy early career EPS Integration and Planning Engineer (up to a level III) to work alongside the senior integration and planning engineer on the Electrical Power System schedule, the open item registers, and the coordination that keeps subsystems, suppliers, laboratories, and the customer aligned. The Axiom Space Station power architecture is a regulated 120 V dual bus system: solar array regulation as the first bus forming stage, isolated conversion as the second, high voltage energy storage with charge and discharge regulation, secondary conversion to 120 V and 28 V, and protected load distribution through latching current limiters, all of it distributed across module boundaries and across berthing and docking interfaces. You will work in Microsoft Project every day, maintain a real Integrated Master Schedule on a program building flight hardware, and will be expected to care whether the logic behind it is correct. Technical integration scope grows around that core as you learn the program: interface data checks, facility and test readiness, supplier data intake, and review package preparation. This is the seat where you learn how a spacecraft gets built, because you will be sitting at the point where every subsystem, every supplier, and every schedule commitment must agree with each other KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Maintain the Electrical Power System portion of the Integrated Master Schedule in Microsoft Project: progress updates, forecast dates, logic corrections, resource and milestone alignment, and gate traceability, and flag slips early rather than at the status meeting - Produce recurring schedule and status products: variance against baseline, upcoming milestone and deliverable views, critical path summaries, and the supporting data behind each - Maintain the registers the program runs on: actions, open items, review item dispositions, requests for action, interface issues, and risks, including owners, due dates, and closure evidence - Track long lead procurement, supplier deliverable dates, and test equipment deliveries against need dates, and escalate when a date moves - Support interface control document development and review: data collection, consistency checking of budgets and interface values across documents, and identification of conflicts between subsystem inputs - Track facilities and test infrastructure readiness: laboratory space allocation, readiness checklists ahead of gates covering power, cooling, data acquisition, and safety, and test schedule conflicts across teams - Support supplier coordination: meeting logistics and minutes, deliverable and action tracking, intake and routing of supplier data packages, and checks of supplier data against the applicable specification - Support certification and review package assembly, including document collection, format and completeness checks, traceability of evidence to requirements, and configuration control of the delivered package - Prepare integration and schedule status material for internal gates and for SRR, PDR, CDR, Test Readiness Review, and Manufacturing Readiness Review - Grow into ownership of a schedule area, an interface set, and a coordination thread, with mentorship from the senior integration and planning engineer - Communicate progress, status, and issues honestly and early, including when something is not working - Perform additional job duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Education & Experience - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent - Level 3: 5 or more years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered - Working proficiency in Microsoft Project, including task logic, dependencies, baselines, and progress status, or demonstrated ability to reach that level quickly - Interest in planning and schedule work as engineering work. The successful candidate wants to understand why the network is built the way it is, not only to update percentages in it - Working knowledge of electrical power system fundamentals sufficient to follow a technical discussion and to recognize when two numbers in two documents disagree - Strong organization and follow-through. This job is measured by whether open items close, not by whether they were recorded - Clear technical writing, and the ability to produce meeting minutes, status material, and review packages that other people can act on - Curiosity, initiative, and the willingness to ask a question early rather than deliver a wrong answer late - Comfort working in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment where the answer is often not yet written down Preferred Qualifications - Internship, co-op, or project experience in spacecraft, aerospace, defense, or other high reliability programs - Exposure to Primavera P6, earned value reporting, or program planning and control practice - Exposure to interface control documents, requirements management tools such as Jama or DOORS, or configuration management practice - Exposure to laboratory or test operations, including equipment procurement, facility readiness, or test scheduling - Familiarity with space program standards such as SSP 30237, SSP 50005, SSP 50094, or NASA-STD-3001 - Engineer in Training certification, Certified Associate in Project Management, or progress toward professional certification Core Skills - Passion for space and the mission - Entrepreneurial, growth mindset - High EQ and ability to collaborate within teams and cross-functionally - Tech-solutioning in using systems and tools to move smarter and faster Core Competencies: Embody our core values of leadership, innovation, and teamwork. In addition, to perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: - Accountability - Technical Rigor - Execution Discipline - Pride of Delivery WORK ENVIRONMENT: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task. Requirements - This position may require access to export controlled technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). In accordance with U.S. export control laws, final candidates may be required to undergo additional export control screening to determine eligibility for access. Meeting these requirements is a condition of employment - Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised - Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones Physical Requirements - Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) - May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time) - Equipment and Machines - Standard office equipment (PC, phone, printer, etc.) Axiom Space is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
